Code name profiled as “Causal” has this to say:

I am, in fact, an artist. And, You Knew Who I Was is an album I wrote with my heart. I felt the depths of humanity take over; I felt alive on this earthly land; I felt the poise that one never forgets when in performance, and the energy it begets. No identity was going to last forever, I shaped it with time; I shaped it by perception; through the ancient ways and the modern times. Nothing that came after was easy, and everything changed me inside. You knew who I was (sort of), I know I was a bit undefined. If you asked me today, I’d claim to be a self-transformative mind.

I keep on waiting for more music to lead me, phasing new ideas in and out of my psyche, and now–there is no going back. I noticed right away, the remanence of what no longer is. What came after was not simple, how we change and how love moves. This album was from a year of spiritual awakening; followed by a year of disillusionment; followed by a year of deep imagination. Today, only ideas keep me going. I know I will write music well into death. I know I will write words well into my death. I only ask that you listen and live well.

Note
If Causes Knew Their Effects was actually a lot more popular in 2017 than most fans know about.
