I’ll Prove That It’s Not Over

Do you stay warm under your electric blanket, or do you so choose to put on clothes in the dark? I’ll ask her to turn on the light, and we’ll both adjust enough to wake up? Do we decide on clothes that show that we are together?
I’ll write her a better song, I hope it is my best. I’ll prove it’s not over (when things get hard), I’ll take a limit to the test. I’ll demonstrate how to respect S. the world over.

“With Realizations of Empathy” by Jasmin Ivanković

poetry

On empathy,
Jasmin Ivankovic

Love
Poems,
For I’ll forever know what I’ve known,
But not how I’ve seen.
I’ll recall most things,
but not always
What they mean.

With realizations of empathy.

You’ll know I’m kind and gentle.
A man you could maybe need.
You’re surely what your family wanted,
You even met their needs.

I’m just as I’ve always wanted.

‘To be’ is not what ‘it used to be’.

But ‘to think’ or ‘not to think’
in reality comes first,
When you’re me.
It’s kindness to my senses,
The way you seem.
When nothing could take it back
I saw a sign from you
and what you feel.

With realizations of empathy.

I’ll open with
Something you’ve never rehersed.
You’ll tell me what it means…
To start over, again.
I’ll know it meant
Something else
to your sentimentality.
And sometimes,
It’s easy to forget how to be,
So I’ll write reminders in my head.
I know you’ll doubt
How much such reminders matter
For what they meant – but, to me,
It’s besides the point.
I’ll take the love I can get.

With realizations of empathy;

I’ll forever know
The great effort my hands knew,
As they often speak,
Like my body,
Before a word uttered.
‘I’m in love with you,’ you muttered,

With realizations of empathy.

“I’m Complete Inside” by Jay Ivan

No matter your first move,

Make your next one count.

Purpose finds herself lost in doubt,

She’d never sell her soul,

She’d never burn out.

Friendship knows that

You need someone like Trust.

Open your eyes,

Expand your mind,

Go without Lust.

Consciousness found, deep down,

That he fell for both

Escape and Love.

Love adores him conditionally; because

She knows he cares unconditionally for his wife.

Escape loves Infinity and tells him to stare.

He remembers days from after Summer,

Where he lives with Truth, bringing

A cold and empty “take care.”

Consciousness repeats to himself:

I know I’m complete inside,

I know I’m complete inside.

“It Is Why We Never Feel Ok” by Jay Ivankovic

Wisdom speaks of shades of grey,
It is why we never feel ok.
Trust,
I know we’ll meet again someday.
We’ll watch a sunset,
Waiting for tomorrow’s play.
Freedom speaks of Love and War.
She keeps us here, wanting more.
Beauty simply holds the door,
Questioning Life unlike before.
Fear is never afraid of herself,
Sharpening knives before she forgives and forgets.
Preditors never quit their quest,
Only with Tragedy do their Instincts rest.

Former Stories / Better Conclusions

You were the girl

I wanted to impress through my writing,

For I knew that normal words would not work

With you.

You were special,

And craved the kind of love

That crazy, spontaneous writers had,

The ones that only reside

In history books.

Of course,

I pray our story does not end like theirs.

I only desire happiness for us.

Vision

Once we harmonized,

Your goals and dreams

Also became mine.

And I so dearly

Wanted to see you

Achieve them all.

Letters

I always told myself

That I could not possibly

Fall in love with you more.

But here you are,

Proving me wrong once more.
